This cranberry jalapeño dip is my fresh take on the cult favorite Costco version. It’s bright, tangy, a little spicy, and wildly easy to make at home. It’s the same addictive flavors, but you get to make it how you like!

  • Cranberries: I love a chunky dip, so I only pulse a few times. Blend the cranberries longer for fewer chunks. Strain the liquid well, as excess juice will make your dip too runny.
  • Like it Spicy? Use an additional jalapeño if you like it spicy!
  • Sugar: Use more or less sugar depending on your preference. I like it on the sweeter side, but you can use less sugar if you like it tart!

How to Make Cranberry Jalapeño Dip

I’m obsessed with this cranberry dip from Costco, so I knew I had to make my own version. It’s the perfect dip for a Thanksgiving appetizer. The key is to really strain the cranberries so your dip doesn’t get soggy!

  1. Combine & Blend: In a blender or food processor, add fresh cranberries, jalapeños, green onions, sugar, fresh lime juice, and salt. Pulse a few times, leaving the mixture chunky, not fully blended.
  2. Strain: Spoon the cranberry mixture into a fine mesh strainer and strain the liquid well. Reserve some for later.
  3. Beat Cream Cheese & Sour Cream: In a medium-sized bowl, add softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix using an electric hand mixer until smooth and creamy.
  4. Combine: Add the cranberry mixture to the cream cheese mixture and stir until combined. Add a splash of the reserved juice to add color. You can also add extra liquid for a creamier dip.
  5. Chill: Cover and refrigerate the cranberry jalapeño dip for at least 1 hour or until ready to serve. Taste and add additional sugar or salt, if needed. Serve with crackers!

  1. Prep & Layer Turkey: Preheat the oven to 400°F, then add a layer of turkey to the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Make sure you have enough turkey to cover the bottom of the dish evenly. Drizzle over some chicken broth if your turkey is dry.
  2. Add Mashed Potatoes: Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the turkey.
  3. Add Veggies: Sprinkle vegetables on top of the potatoes.
  4. Layer Gravy: Evenly pour leftover gravy over the top of the vegetables.
  5. Add Stuffing & Bake: Add a layer of leftover stuffing to the top of the casserole. Drizzle with some chicken broth if your stuffing is on the dry side. Cover with foil, then bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the stuffing is golden and crisp.

I am a leftover girl at heart. I love leftovers because when I use them, it saves me money on groceries, it saves me from cooking again, and it keeps the holiday flavors going without any extra work.

I’ve made a bunch of recipes that use all of the leftovers and are fun and DELICIOUS twists on the classics. I have sliders, casseroles, soups and even a few more coming later this season! It makes the whole week feel easier and gives your budget a little break after the holiday.

Brown Bag Apple Pie Ingredients

  • Apples: Granny Smiths are my favorite; they stay crisp and add just the right tartness. Honeycrisp, Braeburn, Golden Delicious, or Pink Lady also work well.
  • Brown Sugar: You can adjust the sweetness to your taste. I usually use ¾ cup, but ½ cup works well too. Light or dark brown sugar can be used, depending on your flavor preference.

How to Make a Brown Bag Apple Pie

Get ready for the easiest apple pie ever! The crust is simple, then you’ll fill it, top it, and pop it in the bag, then let the magic happen!

Crust

  1. Start the Crust: Preheat the oven to 400ºF. Prepare the crust by combining the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add the shortening and cut it into the flour mixture with a fork or a pastry cutter until the shortening is the size of small peas.
  2. Knead the Dough: Add 3 tablespoons of ice water and use a fork to stir the mixture together until it begins to form a dough. Add 1-2 tablespoons of additional water until it’s mostly all sticking together. Use your hands to gently knead the dough together and form it into a disk.
  3. Roll: Lightly dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the dough into a 12-14-inch circle.
  4. Place in the Pie Dish: Press the dough into the pie pan, being careful not to stretch it too much; otherwise, it will shrink as it bakes. Trim off the edges with a sharp knife and add any details you would like to the edge.

Filling

  1. Mix the Spices: Add the apples to a large bowl and set aside. Combine the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl.
  2. Toss the Apples: Add the sugar mixture to the apples along with the lemon juice and stir until completely combined and all of the sugar mixture is completely moistened by the apples. Set aside.

Topping

  1. Make the Topping: Combine the flour and sugar in a medium bowl. Add the softened butter and use your hands to rub it in until fully incorporated.
  2. Assemble: Assemble the pie by adding the apple mixture to the crust, arranging the apples so they fill in the crust completely without holes or gaps.
  3. Add the Topping: Crumble the topping evenly over the top of the apples. Place the pie inside a large grocery paper bag so the pie does not touch the bag on the sides or on the top.
  4. Bake: Carefully fold down the open end of the bag and secure it closed with staples or uncoated paperclips, then place the bag on top of a large baking sheet. Bake on the bottom rack of the oven for 1 hour. Once completely baked, carefully open the paper bag to avoid the steam that will escape from it. Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

  • Brown Bag Concerns: The bag may smell like it’s burning in the first 20–30 minutes. If it’s not touching the oven walls or top, it’s fine. Check only if you smell smoke.
  • No Bag? No Problem: Use 2–3 large sheets of parchment paper to make a makeshift bag if you don’t have a grocery bag.
