Bang bang shrimp pasta is what weeknight dinner dreams are made of! Juicy shrimp, tender pasta, and that irresistible sweet-and-spicy bang bang sauce come together in just 20 minutes. It’s creamy, bold, and guaranteed to be a hit.

Plated bang bang shrimp pasta with gold spoon.

Why This Recipe Is About to Be a Family Favorite

 • Creamy with a Kick: That bang bang sauce brings the perfect combo of sweet heat and creamy goodness. Just like my Bang Bang Salmon and Bang Bang Chicken!
 • Weeknight Wow Factor: It feels like something you’d order at your favorite restaurant, but it’s surprisingly simple to throw together at home.
 • Shrimp + Pasta = Instant Win: Juicy shrimp tossed with saucy noodles? It’s comforting, satisfying, and just different enough to keep dinner exciting.

Ingredients for Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta

Overhead shot of labeled shrimp and pasta ingredients.
 • Spaghetti Noodles: Any pasta will work! Thin spaghetti, angel hair, or bowtie are great substitutes.
 • Shrimp: I used large shrimp for this recipe because shrimp shrinks quite a bit as it cooks.
Overhead shot of bang bang sauce ingredients.
 • Heavy Cream: I love the addition of cream in the sauce! It thins the sauce just enough to help coat the noodles and shrimp perfectly.
 • Sriracha Sauce: Use more or less depending on your preference.

How to Make Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta

If you love bold flavors without a ton of fuss, this pasta is calling your name! This shrimp recipe has saucy noodles and a creamy kick that come together in minutes, and trust me, everyone will be asking for seconds.

 1. Make the Sauce: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, heavy cream, Thai sweet chili sauce, honey, Sriracha, and salt until combined. Set aside.
 2. Cook Pasta: Boil the spaghetti in a large pot according to the package directions, drain, then set aside.
 3. Season the Shrimp: Place shrimp in a large bowl, then season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
 4. Cook the Shrimp: Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for 6-8 minutes, until pink. Don’t overcook the shrimp, or they will be chewy. Remove the shrimp from the pan, then set aside.
 5. Heat the Sauce: Return to the same skillet and reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the sauce and heat for 1 minute, whisking continuously.
 6. Combine: Add the cooked shrimp and pasta, then toss to coat in the sauce.

Alyssa’s Pro Tip

Don’t Overcook the Shrimp! Shrimp cook in about 2 minutes per side. Once they’re pink, opaque, and curled into a loose C, they’re done. A tight O means they’re overcooked and rubbery.

Cheeseburger rice is everything you love about a juicy cheeseburger, made easy in one skillet. Hearty, cheesy, and packed with flavor, it’s the ultimate weeknight comfort meal.

Skillet of cheeseburger rice with a wooden spoon.

Why This Dish Belongs on Your Dinner Menu

 • One-skillet magic: Everything cooks in a single pan, which means big flavor and minimal cleanup. Just like in my Taco Rice!
 • Cheeseburger vibes, no bun: All the savory, cheesy goodness you crave, served up in cozy rice form. Try my cheeseburger casserole next!

Cheeseburger Rice Ingredients

Overhead shot of labeled ingredients.
 • Ketchup: If ketchup isn’t your thing, swap it out for 2 tablespoons of tomato paste!
 • Rice: Any long grain white rice will work! I use Jasmine or basmati rice. It helps to rinse and strain the rice before adding it to remove any starch.

How to Make Cheeseburger Rice Skillet

Cheeseburger rice is a one-pan dinner made with pantry staples. You get to pick your toppings just like you would with a burger! Kids love picking their favorites! For another easy one pan recipe, try my Marry Me Chicken Orzo!

 1. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and diced onion. Cook for 3 minutes, until tender. Add the ground beef. Crumble and cook until browned, about 7 minutes; drain fat if needed. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Season with salt and pepper.
 2. Combine: Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and long grain white rice, then stir to combine.
 3. Simmer: Bring the rice mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium low. Cover with a lid and simmer until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 15-20 minutes.
 4. Melt the Cheese: Sprinkle the cheese into the rice mixture, then heat and stir until the cheese melts. Serve cheeseburger rice with your favorite burger toppings. Try shredded lettuce, tomato, bacon, mustard, dill pickles, and burger sauce!

Can I Use Instant Rice?

Yes! Using instant rice like Minute Rice will cut the cook time in half! It’s a great alternative to those busy nights when you want dinner on the table fast!

When you want dinner fast, these Lazy Enchiladas are it! Four ingredients. Less than 30 minutes. Just layer frozen taquitos with beans, sauce, and cheese, bake until bubbly, and boom, dinner is served!

Someone lifting some lazy enchiladas out of the pan with cheese stretching between.

Why It’s a Weeknight Favorite

 • Only 4 ingredients: No prep, no chopping, no stress. Just layer, bake, and dinner is done.
 • Perfect for busy nights & game days: Big, bold flavor with minimal effort, whether it’s a weeknight rush or feeding a crowd.
 • Totally customizable: Switch up the taquitos, sauce, or toppings to make it exactly how your family loves it.

Lazy Enchilada Ingredients

Overhead shot of labeled lazy enchiladas ingredients.
 • Frozen Taquitos: My family loves shredded beef taquitos, but any frozen taquito flavor works!
 • Refried Beans: Pick your favorite canned refried beans! Refried black beans are a great alternative. You could also leave the beans out.
 • Enchilada Sauce: Use red or green enchilada sauce! I prefer green with chicken taquitos and red with beef.

How to Make Lazy Enchiladas

Dinner doesn’t get much easier than this! Just layer, pour, sprinkle, and pop them in the oven for a quick, cheesy meal the whole family will devour. Make some homemade guacamole and Mexican rice to serve on the side for a complete meal.

 1. Spread Refried Beans: Preheat the oven to 400°F, then spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Spread the refried beans evenly in the prepared baking dish.
 2. Add Taquitos: Arrange the taquitos in a single layer on top of the bean layer.
 3. Pour Sauce: Pour the enchilada sauce on top of the taquitos, making sure to cover them completely.
 4. Bake and Melt Cheese: Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, then remove and top with shredded cheese. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 5 additional minutes, or until the cheese is melted. Serve lazy enchiladas with toppings of your choice.

Alyssa’s Pro Tip

Refried Beans: Stir the canned beans to loosen them. For easier spreading, microwave for about 20 seconds, then stir until smooth and spread into the baking dish.

How to Make Pepper Steak Stir-Fry

This simple pepper steak recipe is sure to become part of your dinner rotation. You get good protein, veggies, and this dish is ready in 30 minutes! I like serving it with rice and some garlic edamame!

 1. Cook Peppers: In a medium-sized skillet or wok over medium-high heat, add oil. Add red bell pepper and green bell pepper and cook for 1-2 minutes until tender. Remove and set aside on a plate.
 2. Cook Steak: Turn the heat to high and add sliced flank steak. Brown the beef for about 2 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium-high and continue to cook until no longer pink, about 3 minutes.
 3. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk minced garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, and cornstarch.
 4. Combine: Add the cooked peppers back to the skillet, then pour in the sauce mixture. Continue to cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken. Garnish with green onions, if desired, then serve pepper steak over rice

Alyssa’s Pro Tip

Slicing the Steak: Always slice the meat against the grain for tender steak. If it’s hard to cut, I suggest freezing it for 1-2 hours before slicing.

Potsticker Soup https://therecipecritic.com/potsticker-soup/ https://therecipecritic.com/potsticker-soup/#comments Wed, 31 Dec 2025 13:00:00 +0000 https://therecipecritic.com/?p=325405 My potsticker soup is what you make when you’re busy, hungry, and need something quick that still tastes really good.…]]>

My potsticker soup is what you make when you’re busy, hungry, and need something quick that still tastes really good. All it takes is some frozen potstickers, a simple broth, and a handful of veggies!

Bowl of potsticker soup.

Why This One’s Worth Making

 • Better Texture: Instead of dropping dumplings straight into broth, the potstickers are browned first. This adds flavor, and they don’t get all mushy.
 • Fast and family-friendly: Frozen potstickers and simple ingredients keep prep minimal. It’s warm, filling, and quick to make. Perfect for weeknights!
 • Customizable: You can use any type of potstickers and swap the veggies or broth for whatever you have.

Potsticker Soup Ingredients

Overhead shot of potsticker soup ingredients.
 • Potstickers: Wontons, potstickers, gyoza, or any kind of frozen dumpling will work. Use one with your favorite filling. Sear the outside to get them caramelized and crispy.
 • Vegetables: Switch up the veggies depending on what you have on hand. Bok choy, kale, white mushrooms, and leeks all work great.
 • Broth: You can use chicken, beef, bone broth, or vegetable broth, or whatever you prefer.

How to Make Potsticker Soup

Most potsticker soup recipes drop the dumplings straight into the broth and call it good. I like to crisp mine in the pan before adding the broth. You get better texture, more umami flavor, and a soup that isn’t soggy!

 1. Crisp Up Potstickers: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add frozen potstickers and cook for a few minutes on each side until they are lightly browned.
 2. Sauté Veggies: Add sesame oil, minced garlic, fresh ginger, shredded green cabbage, shredded carrots, and green onions. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the vegetables begin to soften.
 3. Simmer: Pour in chicken broth and soy sauce, then bring the soup to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
 4. Add Spinach and Serve: Turn off the heat and stir in baby spinach. Serve potsticker soup hot and garnish with sesame seeds and more green onions if desired.

Alyssa’s Pro Tip

If you want to add some heat, drizzle in some chili crisp or sriracha for flavor and a little kick!

These honey mustard pork chops bring big flavor with very little effort. The whole grain mustard adds texture and bite. A few extra spices deepen the sauce, turning a simple skillet dinner into something totally crave-worthy.

Plated honey mustard pork chops next to mashed potatoes and green beans.

Why This Recipe Shines

 • Quick But Impressive: This is an easy weeknight dinner that still feels special enough to serve guests.
 • Juicy, Never Dry: Cooking the chops just to temperature keeps them tender and flavorful every time.
 • Versatile and Family-Friendly: The sweet & savory sauce pairs perfectly with everything from mashed potatoes to green beans, making it a win for the whole table.

Honey Mustard Pork Chop Ingredients

Overhead shot of labeled honey mustard pork chops ingredients.
 • Pork Chops: Boneless or bone-in pork chops both work, but bone-in chops will need a longer cook time. Adjust based on thickness and cook to an internal temperature of 145°F. Be careful not to overcook, as pork can dry out quickly.
 • Thickness Matters: Thicker pork chops, about 1 inch, are ideal for this recipe. Thinner chops cook too fast and are much easier to overcook.
 • Mustard Options: Whole grain mustard or stone ground adds great texture and depth, but Dijon, yellow, or spicy brown mustard can all be used.

How to Make Honey Mustard Pork Chops

If you love my honey mustard chicken, you will love these pork chops! With this honey mustard sauce, you’ll have tender, flavorful chops in no time! Dinner will be simple but so tasty.

 1. Prep the Sauce: Combine honey, mustard, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, salt, ground black pepper, and cayenne pepper together in a small bowl.
 2. Dry & Season: Pat pork chops completely dry with paper towels, then season on both sides with salt and pepper.
 3. Sear: Heat olive oil in a large 14-inch skillet over medium high heat. Add the pork chops in a single layer and cook for about 4-5 minutes.
 4. Add Sauce: Flip the pork chops and spread the honey mustard sauce evenly over the tops. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, until the centers reach an internal temperature of 145°F. Use a meat thermometer to check.
 5. Serve: Remove from the heat and enjoy.

Alyssa’s Pro Tips

 • Rest for juicy pork chops. Pull the pork chops off the heat at 135–140°F, tent loosely with foil, and let them rest for 10–15 minutes. They’ll finish cooking to 145°F as they rest, staying tender and juicy instead of dry.
 • Finish in the oven if needed. For thicker chops, sear 2–3 minutes per side until golden, spoon the honey mustard sauce over top, then transfer the oven safe skillet to a 350°F oven for 15–20 minutes, until they reach 145°F. Thinner chops are best cooked entirely on the stovetop.

You love my baked General Tso’s chicken, so obviously, I had to make a faster one. This one pan General Tso’s chicken is sticky, saucy, and on the table in about 30 minutes.

Plate of one pan general Tso's chicken on a bed of rice.

Why This Recipe Belongs In Your Rotation

 • It’s actually one pan! Searing the chicken first, then adding the sauce in the same pan, means better flavor and fewer dishes!
 • 30 Minutes! You read that right! You get restaurant-quality chicken in just 30 minutes!
 • Perfect Sauce! Sweet, savory, and a little tangy, with just enough heat. And it perfectly clings to the chicken.

One Pan General Tso’s Chicken Ingredients

 • Cornstarch: Shake off any excess before browning the chicken.
 • Oil: Cooking the chicken in batches helps to ensure even cooking. Add more oil as needed throughout the cooking process.
Overhead shot of labeled sauce ingredients.
 • Red Pepper Flakes: Add more or less to customize your spice level!
 • Rice Vinegar: Rice wine vinegar also works well in this recipe.
 • Cornstarch: Adding cornstarch to the sauce helps thicken it and coat the chicken.

How to Make General Tso’s Chicken

This one-pan General Tso’s chicken dish will be a lifesaver! No oven needed! You can serve it over rice or noodles, or keep it easy with fried rice or broccoli on the side!

 1. Coat the Chicken in an Egg: Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and place in a large bowl. Crack an egg on top of the chicken and massage it in with your hand to coat the chicken.
 2. Coat with Cornstarch: Transfer the chicken to a ziplock bag, then add the cornstarch, seal the bag, and toss to coat each chicken piece well. Add cornstarch if needed.
 3. Cook: In a large skillet or wok over medium heat, add the vegetable oil. Working in batches, add the coated chicken and cook for 7-8 minutes until browned and no longer pink. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
 4. General Tso’s Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and crushed red pepper.
 5. Simmer the Sauce: Returning to the skillet or wok, add the sauce and bring it to a simmer while stirring. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to help slightly thicken the sauce. Stir occasionally.
 6. Combine the Chicken and Sauce: Add the chicken and toss to coat, then cook for 2-3 minutes and enjoy over rice! Garnish one pan of General Tso’s chicken with sliced green onions and additional red pepper flakes, if desired.

If you haven’t tried egg roll in a bowl yet, you’re in for a treat. Everything you love inside of an egg roll in a lighter, healthier, no-wrapper version! It’s ready in 15 minutes, making it a perfect weeknight dish!

Serving portion of egg roll in a bowl with chopsticks.

Why This Recipe Is My Go-To Weeknight Dinner

 • Experience: I’m an egg-roll superfan who’s tested every shortcut and variation, from air-fryer egg rolls to this faster, lighter bowl version.
 • Speed: This is my real go-to on rushed nights. A 15-minute dinner that feeds the whole family without wrapping or frying anything.
 • Flexibility: I built this recipe to be customizable. Swap veggies, proteins, or seasonings, and it still delivers the classic egg-roll flavor you’re craving.

Egg Roll In A Bowl Ingredients

Overhead shot of labeled egg roll in a bowl ingredients.
 • Ground Meat: Use ground chicken, ground pork, or ground beef as an alternative to the ground turkey!
 • Coleslaw Mix: A premade mix makes it easy, but you can use shredded cabbage and matchstick carrots if you prefer.
 • Veggies: Finely diced mushrooms keep the turkey juicy and boost flavor, and you can add even more color and nutrition with bell peppers, snow peas, or bok choy. Use whatever you love.
 • Protein Swaps: Use ground turkey, chicken, or pork; all work well. For a vegan version, skip the meat and add more veggies.
 • Want a little heat? Add some sriracha or red pepper flakes.

Egg Roll In A Bowl Recipe

When I am too tired to think of something to make, this is what I go for. Easy, fast, filling, and a decently healthy option! My kids love it, and it makes great leftovers for lunches throughout the week.

 1. Cook Onion & Garlic: In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add minced onion and cook until translucent. Add minced garlic and fresh grated ginger, and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
 2. Cook Ground Turkey: Add ground turkey and cook for 7-8 minutes until browned.
 3. Add Coleslaw: Add coleslaw mix and stir well until the coleslaw starts to soften.
 4. Add Soy Sauce & Salt & Pepper: Add soy sauce and hoisin sauce, then mix to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and garnish with green onions.

Alyssa’s Pro Tip

Serve Egg Roll in a Bowl Over Rice: If I want this meal to be more filling and go a little farther, I serve it over rice. My kids love it over rice!
